About Strawberry Stripes
We are a specialist children's clothing manufacturer working exclusively with woven fabrics. We produce dresses, rompers, shirts, blouses, shorts, bloomers, sets, and coordinated collections for newborns through to age 16. Our expertise includes hand smocking, hand embroidery, heirloom finishing, and contemporary boutique essentials. We do not manufacture knit, jersey, or stretch fabric garments such as t-shirts, leggings, or socks.
We are based in India and manufacture exclusively for export. We work with boutique brands and childrenswear labels in the USA, UK, Australia, and Europe. We do not supply to businesses within India.
Over 30 years. We have worked with more than 60 boutique brands worldwide across that time, producing everything from contemporary basics to intricate hand-smocked heirloom collections.
Yes. Strawberry Stripes is women-owned and women-led. We have trained over 50 women artisans, supporting them with flexible work schedules, healthcare, and financial planning assistance.
Getting Started
Yes. We work with brands at all stages, from first-time founders with just an idea to established labels with full tech packs. If you're just starting out, we can help with design development, tech pack creation, pattern making, fabric sourcing, and sampling. You don't need to have everything figured out before you reach out.
No. Many of our clients come to us with a sketch, reference photos, a mood board, or even just a description. We can develop a tech pack for you as part of our sampling and development process. If you do have a tech pack, we're happy to work from it.
The more detail you can share, the more accurate our quote will be. Ideally, share your design concept (sketch, reference images, or tech pack), fabric preferences, any handwork requirements (smocking, embroidery), the sizes you need, and your approximate order quantity. If you don't have all of this, that's fine. We can start a conversation based on whatever you have and refine from there.

Orders and Quantities
Our minimum starts at 25 pieces per style, with flexible size mixes that you determine. We are one of the few children's clothing manufacturers offering genuinely low MOQs without compromising on quality.
Yes. We support the full growth cycle, from small batch orders of 30 pieces through to larger private label production runs of several hundred or thousands of pieces per style. Many of our clients started small and scaled with us over time.
Yes. We keep your patterns, tech packs, and fabric specifications on file. Repeat orders are faster and smoother because the development groundwork is already done. Many of our clients reorder their bestselling styles season after season.
Sampling and Production
Our typical sampling timeline is 4 to 6 weeks per style. For larger collections with many styles, it can run to 6 to 8 weeks. We share photo updates at key stages so you can review progress and flag any changes before the final sample is shipped.
After sample approval, bulk production typically takes 12 to 15 weeks depending on the order size and complexity. For simpler styles without handwork, production can be faster. We provide a specific timeline when we quote your order.
Yes. Sampling is a paid service because it involves custom development work: pattern making, fabric sourcing, garment construction, and refinement. We provide a clear quote for samples before any work begins. Payments can be made via PayPal. Sample charges are separate from production costs.
We work collaboratively through the sampling process, sharing photo updates at each stage so adjustments can be made along the way. If the final sample needs changes, we'll discuss what's needed and provide a revised sample. Our goal is to get the sample right before any production commitment.
This is our top priority. Every bulk production run follows the same specifications as the approved sample, using the same fabrics, patterns, and construction methods. Our 8-step quality control process includes multiple checkpoints during production to ensure consistency across every garment. Where the fabric you have chosen for the sample has run out and is no longer available, we provide alternatives for you to approve before we start production.
Pricing and Payment
We provide detailed quotes before any work begins. If you need options at different price points, we can provide those too. We don't believe in surprises when it comes to cost.
Payments can be made via PayPal and bank transfer.
Our standard payment terms are 50% advance on order confirmation and 50% before shipment for bulk production. Sampling costs are paid for in full in advance.
Fabrics and Materials
We work exclusively with woven fabrics, including cotton (poplin, cambric, voile), gingham, plaid, seersucker, linen and linen blends, lightweight dobby and textured weaves, organic muslin, bamboo cotton blends, and corduroy. We can also source custom prints and custom-dyed fabrics.
Yes. We work with organic muslin, bamboo cotton blends, and BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) cotton. GOTS-certified organic fabrics require higher minimums (approximately 2,500 metres), but we can source uncertified organic and natural fabrics in smaller quantities for brands testing organic ranges.
Yes. We handle full customization down to the smallest detail. Beyond fabrics, we source laces, trims, buttons, ribbons, crochet edgings, and specialty embellishments to match your design requirements. If you have a specific trim in mind, send us a reference image and we'll find it or source a close match. If you're not sure what you need, we can suggest options based on your design direction.
Yes. We can develop custom colours and custom prints to match your seasonal direction. Minimum quantities may apply for custom print development. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Smocking and Handwork
We offer both hand smocking and machine smocking. Our hand smocking capabilities include geometric (classic English style), picture smocking (seasonal and novelty themes), and personalised name smocking. We also offer hand embroidery techniques including shadow work, French knots, satin stitching, bullion roses, and dimensional embroide
Hand smocking is done entirely by hand, stitch by stitch, producing a distinctive texture and depth with natural elasticity. Machine smocking uses automated pleating and stitching, producing a cleaner, more uniform result at a lower cost. We offer both and can advise on which approach best suits your collection based on your styles, price points, and customer expectations.
Smocking and embroidery work best on certain silhouettes and fabric types. We can advise on what works for your specific designs. Common styles include bishop dresses, bubbles, rompers, empire line dresses, and Peter Pan collar dresses, but we're open to exploring other applications with you.
Compliance and Safety
Yes. All garments we produce for the US market comply with CPSIA requirements, covering lead content limits, phthalate restrictions, flammability standards, and tracking label requirements.
Yes. For brands selling in the UK and EU, our production complies with REACH regulations governing the use of chemicals in textile manufacturing.
Yes. We can arrange independent third-party testing through internationally recognized laboratories such as Intertek. If your retail partners require specific test reports, we can coordinate testing to their specifications.
Shipping and Logistics
We ship worldwide. Our main markets are the USA, UK, Australia, and Europe, but we work with brands across the globe.
We ship via UPS and DHL for air freight. For larger orders, we can arrange sea freight for greater cost efficiency. We handle all export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, HSN codes, and certificates of origin where applicable.
Air freight typically takes 5-7 working days to the US and to the UK. Sea freight takes longer but is significantly more cost-effective for larger shipments. We provide shipping estimates as part of our initial quote.
Customs duties and tariffs are determined by your country's trade policies and vary depending on how the garment is classified. We ensure all documentation is accurate and complete to facilitate smooth customs clearance, but the duty or tariff itself is determined by your government's import regulations. We recommend budgeting for customs duty as part of your overall landed cost.
Confidentiality
No. We treat all client designs as strictly confidential. We do not reuse your designs, share product images on social media, or disclose your production details to any third party without your explicit written permission. We do not reuse any original designs developed for you with any other client.
We work with multiple boutique brands, but we never share one client's designs, pricing, or production details with another. Each client relationship is treated as completely separate and confidential.
